For months, local communities have been advocating and protesting against the Allan Labor Government’s mismanagement of Victoria’s Health system. However, it seems the government is still moving ahead with the merging of regional health services into five ‘local health service networks’, The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District said.
Despite the Premier’s claims that there will be no ‘forced’ amalgamations, these mergers will create another level of bureaucracy and take key decision making away from our local communities.
Our healthcare workers and communities have faced months of unnecessary stress and worry because of proposed cuts and amalgamations.
GV Health and NCN Health play such an important role in providing accessible healthcare to our region. Consolidating these services into larger networks will result in centralised decision-making far removed from the communities they are in.
The government needs to acknowledge that there are still significant challenges in the health sector. How has this announcement addressed the current health crisis experienced by our local hospitals?
I’ve recently held a community meeting which brought forward the reality faced in our local hospitals which included ambulance ramping, bed closures, exhausted and overworked staff.
Despite their claims, Labor can’t manage money, can’t manage our health system and regional Victorians are paying the price.
