Dear Editor,
As Christmas approaches, it is a reminder of how we can contribute to our community and just how vital it is to support the organisations that support others. Each year, our incredible local charities and community groups quietly step in to help families doing it tough. Their work is invaluable, especially at this time of year.
For many households, Christmas brings added financial and emotional pressure. Our local charities are often the first-place people turn, and even the smallest act of generosity can make a big difference. Whether it’s an individual, a family or a business lending a hand, every contribution helps lighten the burden for someone who needs support.
If you are able to help, I encourage you to do so. Placing a gift under the Kmart Wishing Tree, donating to Shepparton Foodshare, supporting the work of the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul locally, or contributing a supermarket voucher to organisations such as FamilyCare or The Bridge Youth Service are all meaningful ways to ensure no one feels left behind this Christmas.
Gifts can also be dropped at my office for distribution to Azem for People Supporting People and locations by December 19th.
Christmas is a time for kindness and giving. By contributing in whatever way, we can, we help ensure Christmas is a joy for all.
Warm Regards,
Kim O’Keeffe MP
Member for Shepparton District
