Applications for the 2025 Parliament Prize are now open for students across the state, with The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe, encouraging local students to apply.
The Parliament Prize asks students what they would say to Parliament if they were a Member of Parliament and invites them to submit their own 90-second Member’s Statement video.
The competition is open to students in three categories: Grades 5 and 6, Years 7–9, and Years 10–12, with cash prizes available for both students and schools.
“More than 5,000 students have participated in the Prize since it was launched in 2016, with the quality of submissions improving every year,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
“The Parliament Prize is a valuable opportunity for our youth to have their say on issues affecting the community.
“Last year’s winners covered everything from plastic packaging to financial literacy in schools.
“I encourage all our local students to think about what matters to them and put together their own 90-second video explaining why it is important.
“Not only is there a great cash prize on offer, but this is also a fantastic chance to be heard and draw attention to pressing issues.
“Our students are the leaders of tomorrow, and I look forward to hearing their ideas for the 2025 Parliament Prize.”
