The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe, is urging local community groups and organisations to apply for VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities grants.
With $4.7 million in funding available, applications are now open and will close on 30 October 2025.
Ms O’Keeffe said the grants help locals strengthen social connections and community engagement. “These grants are vital for supporting grassroots access to physical activity and healthy, affordable food.”
“They offer an excellent opportunity for people to get involved in activities that boost both physical and mental wellbeing and I know how important VicHealth’s role is in building healthier country communities, especially where opportunities are waiting to be discovered.”
Applications for VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities are now open.
The program aims to support a range of local initiatives aimed at breaking down the structural barriers that young people (0-25 years) and their families face in achieving good health.
Funding is available in two tiers:
- Tier 1: $10,000-$50,000
- Tier 2: $50,001-$150,000
Sporting, community, cultural, recreational, creative, some local government and other not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. Full eligibility can be found at: https://www.vichealth.vic.gov.au/funding/growing-healthy-communities-grants-round-2
“Grassroots groups are the heartbeat of our communities, sparking connection and vitality across our regions. When we remove barriers, we unlock the full potential of every Victorian to live healthy, active, and connected lives, no matter where they call home.”
