Kim O’KEEFFE (Shepparton) (19:18): (1797) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and the action I seek is for the minister to address the appalling standard of road repairs that we are seeing done on many damaged roads and potholes in my electorate. My office has been working hard with our community to report the dangerous potholes and dangerous damaged stretches of roads, but it is constant and impossible to keep up. One of these areas is the busy Tatura-Murchison Road, which is one of the worst damaged stretches of road I have seen. After months of waiting and constant reporting, when the works were finally addressed they only did half of the area, with a patched-up, appalling temporary job. This is something we are constantly seeing and the community are astounded and angry. They expect their taxes to go towards fixing our roads and proper repairs when works are done. The minister has a responsibility to ensure that our roads are safe, that works are done to an acceptable standard and that roads are not falling apart again just days or weeks after repairs. The roads are in the worst condition that I have ever seen, and like many, I am astounded at the high level of potholes and crumbling, unsafe roads we are experiencing due to the lack of investment and maintenance by this government.
