The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe has paid tribute to the invaluable work of local volunteers during a recent visit to the Numurkah branch of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) as part of National Volunteers Week.
Ms O’Keeffe met with local volunteers and staff to thank them for their ongoing dedication to providing essential health and emergency services to rural and remote communities across the region.
“Volunteers are the backbone of our local services, and it was a privilege to meet with the incredible team at the Numurkah RFDS.
“It was wonderful to also hear from community members who are so grateful for this service.
“Their commitment, compassion and tireless service are a testament to the strength and spirit of our community,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
National Volunteers Week, running from May 19-25, celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people together with this year’s theme ‘Connecting Communities’.
“The work of the RFDS touches countless lives, and it simply couldn’t happen without the dedication of volunteers who give their time so selflessly.
“Their efforts ensure that vital health care is available no matter how remote the location.”
Ms O’Keeffe encouraged locals to consider volunteering, saying it’s a rewarding way to connect with the community and make a meaning impact.
