The Nationals Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe, recently visited Mooroopna Primary School to speak with Grade 6 students about her role following their completion of the Parliament of Victoria’s Webex program.
“It was wonderful to see the students so interested and their enthusiasm to learn more,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
During her visit, Ms O’Keeffe shared insights into her former role within local government before transitioning into state parliament.
The session also provided an in-depth discussion on the different tiers of government – local, state, and federal – and highlighted Ms O’Keeffe’s contributions in the Legislative Assembly, as well as the functions of the Houses of Parliament.
“The students really enjoyed learning about the tiers of government and the various aspects of parliamentary functions,” she said.
“They had many questions, and I think our session together, along with their recent parliament program, has given them a greater understanding of the role and function of politics.”
This visit is part of Ms O’Keeffe’s ongoing commitment to engage with the youth across the electorate.
“I have visited many of our primary and secondary schools across the electorate and it has been fantastic to connect with students to broaden their knowledge,” she said.
“I am committed to further engaging with our youth and I am looking forward to Parliament’s upcoming Youth Forum which will be held in Shepparton for the first time.”
