The Nationals Member for Shepparton, Kim O’Keeffe is encouraging local community groups across the Shepparton District, to restore war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour to their original condition or changed to better reflect veteran service in the community.
The Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour Grant Program is currently accepting grant applications for projects up to $30,000.
Ms O’Keeffe said the funding round is a fantastic opportunity for community groups to conserve and maintain war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour across the Shepparton District, to better reflect the service of our veterans in our communities.
“This program supports many local war memorials across the Shepparton District, that commemorate and pay tribute to those in our community that have served our great nation, in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
“Ex-service organisations, local government authorities, not-for-profit organisations and educations institutions are encouraged to apply and make use of this recent funding round.
“$30,000 can go a long way and I strongly encourage local community groups across the Shepparton District to submit an application and restore war memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour to their original condition or changed to better reflect the service of those who have served our communities,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
Applications are now open until Monday 12 February 2024 and can be submitted online at https://www.vic.gov.au/restoring-community-war-memorials-and-avenues-honour.
