The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe, is encouraging local fishing and angling clubs to apply for funding through the Stronger Fishing Clubs Grant Program.
The program offers grants of up to $10,000 per club to help support projects such as:
- Fishing lessons for multicultural groups, women, First Nations people and all-abilities programs
- Club open days and community fishing events
- Member training and guest speaker nights
- Upgrades to club IT systems or websites
- Clubroom improvements
- New equipment that benefits everyone
“Fishing is such a wonderful activity that people of all ages can enjoy.
“It offers families a chance to enjoy quality time outdoors, take a break from the fast pace of life, and appreciate the natural world. In addition, it strengthens the local economy by encouraging tourism and supporting tackle shops and community gatherings.”
Ms O’Keeffe said that the grants can make a real difference to local clubs.
“Even a modest grant can make a big difference, helping clubs improve their facilities, host activities, or bring in new members. The goal is to keep our local fishing communities vibrant, inclusive, and thriving.
“I’d love to see as many fishing clubs as possible within my electorate to apply for this opportunity.”
Applications for the 2025-26 funding round are now open and close on November 30 2025.
