Applications for the 2026 Parliament Prize are now open for student across Victoria.
The Nationals’ Member for Shepparton District, Kim O’Keeffe is encouraging local students to apply.
“The Parliament Prize is a fantastic opportunity for young people to learn more about Parliament but most importantly to have some fun.
“The Prize is all about asking students what they would say in Parliament if they were a Member of Parliament by inviting them to submit their own 90-second Member’s Statement video”, Ms O’Keeffe said.
The competition is open to students in three categories:
- Grades 5 and 6
- Years 7 to 9
- Years 10 to 12
“Last year’s competition saw more than 1,463 entries from students across 240 schools.
“A Member’s Statement is an opportunity for Members of Parliament to make a brief statement up to 90 seconds in the chamber of Parliament on matters of interest or concern to them and those living in their electorate.
“I always take a great sense of pride in visiting schools across my electorate and hearing from young people directly.
“I encourage all of our local students across the region to think about what matters to them and put together their own 90-second video explaining why it is important to them.
“Today’s students are the leaders of tomorrow and I look forward to hearing their ideas in the 2026 Parliament Prize.”
Entries close on Friday June 12 2026 and for more information visit https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/teach-and-learn/parliament-prize/
